Go
To Team Crews Shoot
Behind the Scenes of "BASIC"
In November 2001 a Go To Team EPK Crew
joined production on a Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures
movie titled “Basic”.
The crew, from Go To Team’s Charleston and Orlando
offices, followed Samuel L. Jackson for Behind The Scenes
footage on the DVD.
Primary shooting took place at Cecil Air base in Jacksonville,
FL. Headlining cast members include, John Travolta, Samuel
L. Jackson, Harry Connick Jr, Taye Diggs, Andy Garcia, Connie
Nielsen, and Giovanni Ribisi. The director is John McTieman.
This will be the first time Jackson and Travolta have worked
together since costarring in Pulp Fiction.
“The goal of the shoot was to get as much as possible of Jackson interacting
with the other co-stars and the director,” said Unit Publicist Pat Story.
During the 8 days that Go To Team was there all of the shooting was done at
night. Story asked the crew to bring foul weather gear, “the actors are
going to be repelling down ropes in the rain and wind, we need a crew who can
work in a simulated poor weather setting.” Communication was very important
on the movie set due to the conditions, but Cameraman Dan Beckmann enjoyed
the challenge and the chance to be creative, “We set up a viewing station
so the writers, producers, DP and assistants could talk about what I was shooting.”
By getting immediate feedback from the crew Beckmann felt
confident he was doing a good job. Story agreed, “I
love the crew Go To Team sent to Jacksonville, we had a lot
of fun.”

Golf
Training Video for
Classic Swing Golf school
Go To Team’s Myrtle Beach office
produced a 28 minute instructional video for Classic Swing
Golf School, which is rated by Golf Magazine as one of
the top 25 golf schools in the nation.
The video was shot on location at Legends Golf Course. The
instructional video is the second volume in a series of golf
instructional videos. After using another production company
for volume one, golf instructors called on Go To Team's video
production services.
"They were very interested in improving their production value and that's
something we can do," says GTT producer Thomas Hughes.
"We use the best equipment, we have experienced producers and videographers,
and we have experience in this kind of program. We set out to make this video
better than their last." "It was a long day," says Classic Swing
golf instructor Ted Frick. "It took us eight hours for a 30 minute tape,
but Thomas was great. He was very patient and kept us very relaxed. He did
a good job. "
Hughes adds, "They rehearsed what they wanted to say.
They were very professional and prepared. But they were also
open to suggestions on how to make the video better. Go To
Team has a complete non-linear editing system and the video
was edited in-house. "The system is very powerful; it
is widely accepted and used by professionals and filmmakers," says
Hughes. “The client was very helpful, sitting in on
the editing process.”
From start to finish, Go To Team took care of every detail
of this production, even taking digital photos and using
Photoshop to produce full color sleeves for the video. GTT
made 1,000 dubs, and Classic Swing Golf School sells the
tapes to its students.
"The response to the tape has been good," says
Frick. “Go To Team will convert the video to DVD soon
and Volume III will be produced sometime next year. If anyone
asks, I would definitely give Go To Team a thumbs up!"
Go
To Team Shoots Behind the Scenes of "Cold Mountain"
Go To Team's Scott Video Crew joined
production on the Miramax blockbuster "Cold Mountain". The EPK video crew
followed the production throughout the lowcountry of South
Carolina. Primary shooting took place at College of Charleston
and around local plantations. Headlining cast members include,
Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and Renee Zellweger. The director,
Anthony Minghella, is well known for his work on "The
English Patient" and "Talented Mr. Ripley".
Talking from the primary set in Romania Publicist, Larry
Kaplan expressed nothing but good news about the EPK footage. "They
were very easy to work with. I would use GTT, again."
"The goal of every EPK crew is to get the absolute best video possible,
while be completely invisible to the set" Director of Photography Dwaine
Scott says. "They key is making sure you understand the set politics and
when it's the right time to get in there and get your shot… you certainly
can't slow down the production process."
Scott and Ryan Cockrell (Sound) enjoyed being on the set
and working with true professionals. "From the grips,
video assist, sound recordist, all the way to the director,
everyone was very easy to get along with and provided us
with the inside track." Scott says.
During the multi-day shoot that Go To Team was on location
they shot several interviews with cast and crew, as well
as, the remarkable downtown Charleston locations. "It
should be a lot of fun to watch the movie and see the results
of all the hard work the locations folks did to get the College
of Charleston ready for the period piece." said Operations
Manager Patrick Bryant.
Go To Team can provide EPK crews locally in Charleston, SC;
Columbia, SC; Charlotte, NC; Myrtle Beach, SC; Wilmington,
NC and Orlando, FL.

Go
To Team Shoots Charleston Vistors Bureau Commercial in 24p
Go To Team has produced a new broadcast ad spot to air nationally
for the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The newest commercial was lensed on the Panasonic 100A
over a three day shoot schedule.
"The 24p function of the Panasonic 100A allows us to get a terrific feel
without the cost of shooting HD or Film. We added a wide angle lens and filters
and got everything we needed." said Patrick Bryant, Go To Team Executive
Producer.
On Tuesday, January 11th, members of the Charleston CVB’s
Travel Council viewed a preview of the ad during the group’s
January meeting at the Sheraton North Charleston Hotel.
The 30-second spot features visual images of children and
individuals enjoying the South Carolina Aquarium, strolls
on downtown Charleston sidewalks, seafood on Shem Creek,
bicycle rides on Kiawah Island, tours on Charleston harbor,
a U.S. park ranger at Fort Sumter, as well as skilled sweet
grass basket weavers who embody Lowcountry culture.
A female voice over is heard saying: “Where you can
explore. Where you can indulge. Where you can discover. Where
you can play. Where you can get away. Charleston, South Carolina:
where history lives.”
The ad’s theme and title “Where History Lives” use
the CVB’s existing tagline found on its website and
marketing pieces. “We are very pleased with the ad
and what it captures about Charleston,” said Louise
Ballard, CVB marketing director.
“Our primary goal was to produce a spot that we could air any time of
the year and in any market of the U.S. We believe we now have a terrific ad
to serve our needs,” added Ballard.
The CVB will also feature the spot on its website, charlestoncvb.com.
The CVB plans to pair the ad in conjunction with the SCPRT
Marketing Co-op which will run nationwide on targeted cable
networks in the very near future.
The CVB will use the spot to promote visitation to the Charleston
area in a variety of targeted initiatives.
Go To Team’s executive producer Patrick Bryant and
account manager Chester Jacinto worked with the CVB to conceive
the ad campaign.
Production of the spot began in early fall of 2004. “Our
charge was to showcase Charleston’s unique assets:
its history and natural beauty,” said Bryant. “The
ad takes Charleston’s assets and blends them into a
strong visual invitation that projects our destination’s
exciting sense of discovery and energy.”
Go To Team provides video production services throughout
the Carolinas including, in Charleston, SC; Columbia, SC;
Charlotte, NC; Myrtle Beach, SC; Wilmington, NC and Orlando,

Daily
Show in Columbia, SC
The Daily Show on Comedy Central recently completed video
segments shot in
Columbia, SC by Go To Team.
The story was broadcast on January 21st. The humorous focus
was on the civil rights movement surrounding the confederate
flag and South Carolina’s new holiday: Confederate
Memorial Day.
A native of South Carolina, correspondent Stephen Colbert,
interviewed three guests, for the spot including: State Senator
Glenn McConnell, Maurice
Bessinger of Maurice's Gourmet Barbeque, and Dwight James
of NAACP (or NCAA –CP as Colbert jokingly called it).
“It was a humorous piece, Colbert kept us smiling,” Go To Team
Camerman Neal Kinard commented, “The one thing he didn’t make fun
of was the mustard based BBQ sauce.”
The Daily Show, with host Jon Stewart, is a television show
that takes a comic view on current event news, pop culture
news, sports news, and entertainment news.

Go To Team
Shoots VH1's Driven:
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
VH1's Driven Series followed the life of NASCAR legend Dale
Earnhardt, Jr. and Go To Team's Hughes crew was there for
the whole ride. The interviews were shot during a ten day
video shoot in Mooresville, NC (near Charlotte, NC). However,
as per the style of the show they never interviewed Dale
Jr.
"The series producer, Jen Winston, Mike Cavell (audio technician) and
I were the only people to sit through every minute of every single interview.
It was a unique position to be in. We never even got the chance to meet Dale
Earnhardt, Jr., but the three of us feel as though we have known him all of
his life." Go To Team Director of Photography Thomas Hughes explains.
Throughout the taping VH1 was given exclusive access to the
members of the Earnhadt family, as well as, some very well
known NASCAR facilities.
"I found myself smack dab in the middle of a racing family dynasty. Many
of the interviews were conducted on campus at DEI (Dale Earnhardt Incorporated).
This place has tighter security than most government facilities I've visited.
VH1 had unfettered access to the people
and facilites at DEI. At one point we found ourselves standing
in the middle of the Bud garage surrounded by #8 cars.
One of the producers from the Driven series said, 'This
is pretty cool, huh?' I responded, 'Cool...I have friends
who would sell their soles to be standing in here." Hughes
says with a very large smile.
Go To Team's video crews have shot on several other episodes
of Driven including Limp Bizkit and Stone Cold Austin.

To Team Produces East Cooper Regional Medical Center Ad Campaign
Go To Team has produced a new broadcast ad campaign to air
in the Charleston market for East Cooper Regional Medical
Center.
Four different 30-second commercials
are part of the campaign. Each 30-second spot features
various employees performing their jobs as well as appearing
on camera with the tagline “Growing
with Our Community.” A long-time Mt. Pleasant native,
community and business leader, Jimmy Bagwell, who serves
on East Cooper’s board of directors, also appears in
one of the spots.
The four spots (Answering the Call, We’ve Been Here,
Employees Who Care, and Behind the Scenes) have begun airing
on WCSC, WCBD, WCIV and throughout national network channels
carried by Comcast. The spots will air through this fall.
“Featuring the employees of East Cooper Regional Medical
Center and the hospital’s long-standing service to
our community illustrate how vital the hospital is to Mt.
Pleasant,” said Pam Tucker, director of marketing of
East Cooper Regional Medical Center. “Since 1986, we
have grown side by side with Mt. Pleasant and are looking
forward to continuing to what we do best, provide quality
healthcare that is among the best,” she added.
Prior to the June 20th start date, Tucker
had the hospital’s
staff preview the ads: “We received a terrific response
to the ads and we are very pleased with the high quality
work by Go To Team.”
Go To Team producers Patrick Bryant and Chester Jacinto along
with director of photography Tom Wells worked closely with
Tucker to conceive the creative direction and coordinate
the production of the ads. Go To Team’s Jacinto also
planned the TV media schedule in which the spots will run
and Go To Team made the media buy.
In addition, the broadcast campaign supports
a comprehensive print schedule being executed by East Cooper. “Being
a part of the campaign touched us on a personal level because
all of the children of everyone who worked on producing the
spots on our end were born at East Cooper,” said Jacinto. “It
brought back the wonderful experience that we all had and
the campaign is a true reflection of the family atmosphere
that you feel among everyone in the hospital,” he noted.
The original footage was shot by Go To Team Cameraman Tom
Wells on the Sony Z1 HD camera. Ian McCullen served as the
audio operator / grip. The spots were edited by Michael Patterson
in the AVID edit suite.
Go To Team provides video production services throughout
the Carolinas including, in Charleston, SC; Columbia, SC;
Charlotte, NC; Myrtle Beach, SC; Wilmington, NC and Orlando,

To Team covers the country for NBC’s “the Last
Mile” Election Coverage
In the 16 days leading up to Election Day Go To Team's five
video crews traveled daily, shooting in 28 cities and producing
over 50 live shots.
Working with MSNBC Anchors Ashleigh Banfield,
Chris Jansing, and Gregg Jarrett, the crews were shooting
from 4AM to 4PM then traveled to their next location. Following
the candidates meant crossing the country several times.
In the first three days A & B Crews were in Little
Rock, AK, Nashville, TN, and Davenport, IA. All five crews
ended up in Nashville, TN or Austin, TX for election night
coverage.
"It seemed more like a Rock n Roll tour than news coverage.
However, at every new location we asked ourselves what can
we do to make today's live shots fresh?" said Cameraman
Dwaine Scott.
In addition, to their standard ENG packages (consisting
of Sony D600's), Go To Team used several Sony PC100 mini
DV cameras, Robo Camera, and a pencil camera, to add life
to the same old live shots. For several shots in Austin,
TX they used an 80-foot scissor lift.
However, the story doesn't end there… the
Thursday after the election Go To Team turned its resources
to the Election recount.
Operations manager Patrick Bryant, "Our
crews quickly reloaded and headed out for Florida and Texas.
And, shortly after arriving they bought a Christmas tree."

GO
TO TEAM REVS UP NASCAR’S BEHIND THE SCENES COVERAGE
ON FOX SPORTS
Armed with Panasonic Varicam, Director of Photography Skip
Clark Follows Races Around the U.S.
The roar of the engines, the roar of the crowd. That’s
NASCAR and the high speed rush of what has become one of
America’s favorite sports. Beginning on February 9
for the 2005 season’s official start in Daytona, Skip
Clark, director of the photography of Go To Team, was smack
dab in the middle of it all.
“While it is a big thrill, you really have to look all around you and
need to have a definite sense of where you are because so much is happening,” said
Clark.
On assignment for Fox Sports Sunday broadcasts, Clark was
charged with getting behind-the-scenes footage in and around
every corner of the track, from the infield, the pit stop,
in the pit road and stall, and even from a U.S. Army Chinook
transport helicopter. The footage of every race was used
for the following week’s Pre-Race Show on Fox Sports.
NASCAR legends filled Go To Team camera lenses as Clark and
his crew shot multi-camera interviews with Rusty Wallace,
Waltrip and other drivers.
Going strong and traveling continually, Clark could not quite
recall where he was for one race when the Chinook unloaded
him and the production crew when they followed Darrell Waltrip
who drove a pace car for one race out of the helicopter. “Somewhere
in Texas,” wondered Clark who added on location shoots
in Florida, Ohio, Nevada, California and New York to his
NASCAR log. Faced with a quick paced and demanding schedule,
Clark fell in love with motor sports. In fact, he now considers
himself a convert as a direct result of the experience. “The
places we traveled to are a testament to the popularity of
NASCAR and its national appeal,” noted Clark.
“What was really cool was to be embedded in the first half of the circuit
and feel the highs and lows of each of the drivers as the season progressed.” The
tour was Clark’s second NASCAR go round and he feels like the production
crew really became a more vital part of the action. “Compared to last
year, where we only did 3-4 races and the whole experience was kind of new
to us yet this year we became a more vital part of the team and sensed that
Fox Sports viewed us as an essential partner.” Go To Team served client
Chris Long, a Fox Sports producer who is now with the Speed Channel. Clark’s
production team included producers Judy Hoang, Don Bui and Bill Richards as
well as audio operators TP Barker and Dave Baker.
A major highlight of the assignment was Clark’s brand
new gear. Clark got to put Go To Team’s new Panasonic
Varicam AJ-HDC27F camera to work. The Go To Team purchase
marked the first high definition varicam camera to be owned
and used by a South Carolina-based video production company.
Among the HD cam’s amazing features are its stunning
picture quality, robust color and amazing detail. The Panasonic
Varicam is capable of variable frame rate at the touch of
a button.
“It was a great tool to have out there!” exclaimed Clark. “It
allows for more creativity and you have more control over the look and style
of the throw that you are shooting. I enjoyed shooting in a 16x9 widescreen
format on 24p and the ability to do time lapses in the field. Most importantly,
I think Fox Sports was very pleased with our quality of work.”
“Skip’s performance once again demonstrates why he is one of the
best DPs around,” said Patrick Bryant, Go To Team operations manager. “We
are fortunate to have him and serve clients like Fox Sports and NASCAR.”
Go To Team’s camera crews and producers have served
national clients such as A&E, VH1 “Behind the Music”,
NBC News, ABC’s 20/20, Wachovia, and UPS. Locally,
Go To Team has produced broadcast commercial campaigns for
the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and East
Cooper Regional Medical Center.

Crew
covers Iraq war for NBC
For 80 days, Go To Team Director of Photography Dwaine Scott
and Audio Operator Mike Cavell were embedded with the US
Army, covering the war in Iraq.
GTT traveled the entire country with the 3rd Army ID Unit,
shooting footage for NBC. The crew's footage aired on Dateline,
NBC Nightly News, MSNBC and the Today Show.
"It was pretty brutal," says Scott, talking about working around
the clock to show the American audience live images of what was happening.
The Scott crew got to work each day around 7:00 am Iraqi time, which is eight
hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. By 3:00 pm they were shooting live shots
for the Today Show. Live shots for CNBC, MSNBC, and the Nightly News followed. "We
worked until 3:30 am Iraqi time each day."
Scott compares the experience to the war in Afghanistan, "It
had a lot of similarities, but in Iraq, the big difference
was we were embedded with the American Army. It was much
more dangerous. We were targets. It was a unique experience
for me. It was more than trying to get the best shot, the
best story, getting the good video. It was about 40 percent
of that. 60 percent of it was survival. not getting shot." (See
Dwaine Scott's On Location in Iraq Scrapbook)
Go To Team did capture compelling video for the network,
including prisoners of war, raids, hostile fire, mass graves,
religious ceremonies, and the daily lives of the Iraqi people. "The
Iraqi people are often portrayed in a negative light." Scott
recalls, "There was a lot of bloodshed, but what I remember
most are the smiling faces. The children were beautiful.
The Iraqis are nice, beautiful people." (see Dwaine
Scott's Faces of Iraq Scrapbook)
9 SC Lottery
Commercials Produced
South Carolina video production company,
Go To Team, was selected to produce the first television
spots for the South Carolina Education Lottery. Go To Team
worked with the creative team at NS&G to shoot footage that will be incorporated
into the 9 broadcast spots. Creative Director, Gary O’Neil
was on location to ensure that the "simple advertising
strategy of bringing the lottery to the people of South Carolina" was
upheld.
South Carolinians comprised Seventy-Five percent of the crew.
Trident Technical College professors filled two key positions,
and several Trident students served as production assistants.
One of our key goals was to insure that we used as many qualified
crew members from South Carolina as possible”, Patrick
Bryant, Operations Manager for the project.
Go To Team had the opportunity to partner with Boston based
Picture Park, a commercial production company. Picture Park
provided Director, Bill Cuccinello, Executive Producer, Billy
Near, Producer, C. Fitz. Go To Team’s office space
in Charleston, SC housed the entire production.
The Lottery Express on Location.
The ads will feature Thom Sharp, an actor who has served
as a national spokesperson for Hewlett-Packard, Zip-Loc,
and Shoney’s among other companies. Sharp travels the
state in a brightly designed motor home vehicle informing
residents about the South Carolina Education Lottery.
In a busy 3 days of shooting the crew managed to shoot almost
all the footage for the spots. In Downtown Columbia the locations
involved were Hiller Hardware on Lady St and the Statehouse
grounds. In the Lowcountry the crew was at Beachwear and
Gifts on Folly Beach, Charleston Naval Base, Shem Creek and
Magnolia Cemetery all became the background to the people
of South Carolina.
The television spots began airing in mid-December. The South
Carolina Education Lottery will officially launch on January
7th. "It’s just plain fun!" Click here to

New
Spots for Mascot Homes
When Mascot Homes, Incorporated was looking for a new and
better way to promote its modular homes, the company called
on Go To Team. Go To Team delivered, by creating and producing
two 30 second commercials that are currently airing across
South Carolina.
GTT Producer Thomas Hughes wrote the scripts, and GTT spent
one day shooting the spots at a modular home in Johns Island,
South Carolina.
"The client wanted one spot that would air immediately, and also a spot
that would air during the Christmas Holidays," says Hughes.
The modular home GTT used for the spot was decorated for
the holidays, but that presented a challenge. "For the
spot that needed to air immediately, we had to take the Christmas
decorations down. But for the Holiday spot, we had to put
them back up again. So for this job, we also became production
designers, prop masters and set dressers."
Long-time Columbia, SC television personality Joe Pinner
was the talent. After the commercials were shot, GTT edited
the spots in-house, using its complete non-linear editing
system. "With our system, you have infinite control.
You can color-correct footage and produce a high quality
piece of material," says Hughes.
"The client wanted the commercials turned around quickly. We edited the
spots and they were ready a week later." Go To Team made at least a dozen
beta dubs and distributed the commericals to the directly to South Carolina
television stations.
Hugh Gaymon with Mascot Homes says he was very pleased with
the finished product. "Everything went well. Go To Team
took care of everything. People on the street tell me they
like my spot."

Go
To Team Produces Live Event for Internet Broadcast
On November 21, Go To Team put together a five camera live
event for PPD, a pharmaceuticals research company. The pharmaceutical
company had assembled prominent speakers in Raleigh, NC for
a moderated pharmaceutical discussion. Go To Team shot three
70-minute segments to be broadcast on the internet.
Go Two Team assembled a sizeable crew to help transformation
of the Kennedy “Black Box” Theatre into a fully
functional TV Studio. A production truck was parked outside
with a director. While inside five camera men, audio operators,
a lighting director, floor director, make up artist, several
production assistants and technical manager Skip Clark worked
their magic. But before they could spring into action on
that day, months of intense planning had to be done. There
were several site surveys where minute details, such as the
carpet color were taken into consideration. Days before the
shoot the stage was moved several times.
Bright lights and tight shots were critical for this shoot. “The
event was designed for the internet, which meant ‘Bright
and Tight,’ but at the same time PPD wanted it to be
less intrusive,” says GTT Tech manager Skip Clark. “They
really wanted to create an environment that would encourage
the audience to participate in the event and not feel inhibited
by the lights or crew and our crew was able to accomplish
that because we had positioned out of the way. We had crew
that was able to operate quiet and behind the scenes and
yet we were able to get the job done and get it done well.”
Go To Team worked with executive producer Glen Fishkin of
Mind Blazer on this event. “I‘ve used Go To Team
for a variety of productions, from one man band shoots, all
the way through multi-production shoots with a director and
truck and in every case...Go To Team has exceeded my expectations
in terms of quality and budget and attention to detail.”
“An event like this is a success when no one notices the crew and it
doesn’t seem like a televised event,” says Clark. Fishkin agrees.
He says PPD was more than pleased with the end result. “They loved it
and I think they’re going to come back for more.”

TV ad on area's charms unveiled
CVB's spot targets tourists, will run on cable starting in
March
Published on 01/12/05
BY KYLE STOCK
Of The Post and Courier Staff
CORRECTION 1/13/05: Business
Because of an editing error, a headline on page 8B of Wednesday's
Post and Courier contained an error. The headline should
have read "Tourism ads tout area charm."
The Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau on Tuesday
unveiled a 30-second television ad that it plans to run on
cable networks nationwide starting in March.
The spot was filmed and produced by Mount Pleasant- based
Go To Team and includes a smattering of things tourists associate
with Charleston: shrimp, shrimp boats, beaches, the South
Carolina Aquarium, old homes and old military forts.
"It does a great job of capturing a lot of the elements of the destination
that do set us apart," said Louise Ballard, director of marketing at the
CVB. "Print advertising has a harder time with some of these things."
It has been about two years since the CVB last produced a
television ad. In the past, its TV spots were more targeted,
such as ads aimed at potential Christmas travelers or tennis
fans who might be interested in the Family Circle Cup. But
the ad released Tuesday was designed to target a wide cross-section
and run at anytime and any place.
This year, the ads will run from March to July in concert
with 30-second spots produced by the state Parks, Recreation
and Tourism Department. Each organization will pay $20,000
for the air time on a variety of cable networks, including
Turner South, Animal Planet, the Food Network, the Travel
Channel and The Weather Channel.Under the deal reached with
the cable channels, the ads will continue to run until they
generate 4,000 inquiries from viewers. PRT said this sort
of guarantee will provide high yields and low risk.
"(Charleston's) star is rising and this just kind of fuels that fire," Rick
Mosteller, vice president of Fort Sumter Tours, said of the ads.
Ballard declined to comment on how much the ads cost to produce.
But she said the CVB went to great lengths to keep costs
low and "squeezed as much as" it could in terms
of production expenses.
The new ads are part of a major overhaul in tourism marketing
at the state and regional level. PRT is spending more money
than ever to buy ad space and is aiming specifically at women
for the first time.
Television, in particular, is playing a bigger part in the
state's tourism-promotion efforts. PRT, along with regional
organizations like the Charleston CVB, plans to air 359 TV
ads on national cable between March and July.
"Our director (Chad Prosser) was interested in getting into more invasive
media, and we think this will do that," said Beverley Shelley, PRT's director
of sales and marketing.
Shelley said PRT is working "fast and furious" to
finish its own television ad, which it plans to unveil the
first week of February at the Governor's Tourism Conference
in Myrtle Beach.

All Art and Logos are copyright Go To Team, Incorporated
1997. We often are incorrectly referred to as go team, go
team video, go team video productions, gtt, got a team, goto
team, gototeam, and go team go. That's right we've heard
them all, but the correct name is: Go To Team.
Go To Team is a video production company with offices in
Charleston, South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, Charlotte,
North Carolina and video crews located throughout North Carolina,
South Carolina, Florida and Georgia.
History
Dwaine Scott and Patrick Bryant
founded Go To Team in October 1997. They felt that there
was a shortage of good organized camera crews in the smaller
markets outside Atlanta. With 10 years of television broadcasting
experience they created Go To Team to fill this niche in
the Southeast video crew market. Their goal was to provide
high quality video production crews and services in local
markets throughout the southeast. So they positioned the
corporate office in Charleston, SC while Director of Photography
Dwaine Scott remained centrally based out of Columbia,
SC. This gave them an advantage of reaching several mid-sized
cities.
By simply offering the highest standard in quality equipment
and following their motto "Do Whatever It Takes," Go
To Team quickly gained the attention of national networks
and clients. A turning point came after being apart of the
Monica Lewinsky Story; they knew it was time to add on to
their staff.
Go To Team purchased several sets of identical gear and setout
to offer the same quality in multiple markets. By positioning
their staff cameramen in other cities, Go To Team could offer
camera crews in different local markets while maintaining
only one main office. By
simply offering the highest standard in quailty equipment
and following their motto "Do Whatever It Takes",
Go To Team quickly gained the attention of national networks
and clients.
Besides adding on to their staff, Go To Team has formed partnerships
with other crews throughout the Carolina's over the past
3 years. The partnerships have allowed the video crews to
benefit from quality management and continued growth of business
throughout the southeast.
Clients became repeat customers because they only had to
make one call, providing them access to a variety of cameraman's
schedules, the ability to benefit from local resources and
confidence that they will be met on location with the same
gear and professional attitude from each of our video crews.
The future:
Go To Team remains focused on the ultimate goal - continue
to provide high-end clients with the best video quality and
top-notch crew in the Southeast.

In addition, Click here to read a Q&A with Dave Baker,
last years apprentice who is now a Go To Team Cameraman in
Charlotte, NC.
"GTT really is a team. The company consists of a group of people who want
to see you do your best."
- Tom Wells, DP & Former Apprentice
"This Apprenticeship puts you on the best videography team in Network
Television and sets you up for success."
- Skip Clark, DP & Former Apprentice
Q&A
with Apprentice & Go To Team Cameraman Dave Baker
GTT gave Dave 6 questions and here are his unedited responses:
Whats the most challenging part of the apprenticeship?
For me, the most challenging part of the apprenticeship has
been leaving a position where I was comfortable with my abilities
and equipment, and moving to a much higher level, where I
find myself continuously learning new techniques and equipment.
It has been a little disconcerting to go overnight from the
guy "with the answers" to the guy with the questions.
The great thing about the apprenticeship is that it gives
you a chance to advance your craft to the next level by working
in the field with skilled mentors like Skip Clark.
What is the coolest assignment you have been on, what was
your position?
GTT has had me involved in so many cool assignments that
I would be hard pressed to determine a favorite. I was fortunate
enough to work as an audio operator with Skip for a large
portion of Fox's coverage of the NASCAR season. Between running
B camera on a couple of HD shoots, and participating in the
numerous "behind the scenes" workings at the tracks,
it would be any NASCAR fan's dream come true.
I think that for me personally, the coolest assignment I
worked on was a recent shoot for America's Most Wanted with
Tom Wells outside Savannah, GA. The locations were various
and intriguing, the subject matter fascinating, and learning
from/working with Tom was a great experience.
Advice for anyone interested in the apprenticeship?
The best advice I would give anyone interested in the apprenticeship
is don't apply unless you are willing to travel and want
to learn from the best. This apprenticeship will require
a whole lot of your time and all of your energy. The hours
can be demanding, and there is much to learn, but it is absolutely
worth it. Where else will you be given a chance to learn
hands on from people at the top of their field who actually
want you to reach their level?
How do you feel about Skip Clark's ability to teach?
Skip is like the Yoda of DP's. Every question I have ever
asked has been answered and fully explained. Skip is not
only able to tell you what works; he can tell you why it
works. He is a born teacher, and has that rare ability to
teach even when he is not trying or aware that he is doing
it. I have learned more from him in five minutes of casual "shop
talk" over lunch than I have learned in three years
at my previous job. He is a complete professional. Whether
lighting, shooting, or interacting with clients, Skip provides
an example to emulate and to strive for (with the exception
of his love for The Dave Mathews Band).
Tell one story from the apprenticeship...
Early in my apprenticeship I was given the chance to work
as a PA on a Fox multi camera HD shoot with Skip and Tom.
The shoot required that one man individually act out the
duties of a seven man pit crew. The end result was to have
all "seven" of this person running around on screen
at the same time. I was amazed as I watched Skip and Tom
work out what seemed like a million logistical details on
set without even breaking a sweat. The shoot went off without
a hitch and the finished product was phenomenal. I knew then
that I had joined up with the best.
How do you feel about being a part of GTT?
Since becoming a part of GTT, I have been continually impressed
at the caliber of professionals I work with. These people
really are at the top of their game and honestly seem to
want to help me get to the top of mine. It is wonderful to
work for an employer who actually cares as much about me
as it does its clients. I am thrilled to be a part of the
team and wouldn't be anywhere else.

Position
What is Go To Team's goal for the apprenticeship?
Our goal is to develop new Directors of Photography.
Who should apply?
The position is to be filled by someone with significant
shooting
experience. When reviewing reels we look for signs of potential
for great
shooting. Many of our best candidates have superb b-roll,
but haven't had
the tools or training to light large interviews. During our
interview
process we look for a great attitude.
Who will I be working with?
Tom Wells, our Charleston Director of Photography, will be
working with this
person to fine-tune their lighting, shooting, and audio skills.
Tom Wells shoots
reguarly for America's Most Wanted, ABC News, and Fox News.
He started with
Go To Team as an Apprentice in Charlotte, NC.
Will I be anyone's personal assistant, answering phones,
or washing cars?
No. The Go To Team Apprenticeship isn't easy. It is a challenging
experience
for photogs that want to be their best. "You will be
running audio,
lighting, producing, and learning every aspect of high-end
video
production." You will not be involved with the shipping
department,
secretarial pool or tape library. However, you may serve
as a Production
Assistant on location because we find that to be a valuable
learning
experience.
Am I guaranteed a Director of Photographer position with
Go To Team?
No, however Dave Baker, Tom Wells and Skip Clark are former
apprentices. We hope to move every
apprentice to a Director of Photography position. We have
three offices in
Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, and Charlotte, NC, and certainly
are not
adverse to opening new ones.
Will I have to sign a contract?
Yes, One Year. The majority of applicants are from out of
state and we have
found that we have to provide a minimal contract to ensure
potential
candidates that they can make a move with confidence of a
long-term
agreement. It also helps set a timeline for the goals we
set for each
apprentice.
How many applicants do you get?
We have posted the position for several years now and typically
get more
than 50 tapes.
Do you expect me to take a pay-cut to take this position?
No. Please only apply if you are comfortable making $28,000
per year.
There are opportunities to make more money through over-time
(time and a half after 40 hours per week or 10 on-location)
and perhaps
NABET Network pay.
Do I need a personal vehicle or will one be provided?
Yes, you need a personal vehicle. Our DP will not pick you
up for work
each day. You will be reimbursed mileage if your personal
vehicle is used
for a shoot.
Will there be travel or long hours?
Absolutely. Go To Team's clients shoot nationally and internationally
and
there is no better experience than traveling with one of
our crews on a long
assignment. It is not uncommon to work more than 4 shoot
days per week.
However, some weeks might be very slow.
Will Go To Team bill for my services?
Yes, Go To Team is a profitable corporation and intends to
bill our clients
for your services. However, we see a much greater value in
creating a
long-term relationship with a well-trained Director of Photography,
than
using the position to waste a good photog¹s valuable
time.
Can't I make a lot more money shooting freelance for these
same clients?
We don't expect this Apprentice to shoot full-time for our
clients. They
will mostly be going out in the field with our crews. Anyone
that works with GTT
on a network shoot gets paid their full NABET pay direct
from the Network,
but we wouldn't recommend anyone for a network shoot unless
they were a
fully capable camera or sound person.
Are there other ways to work with Go To Team?
Yes, we have a large list of freelancers including audio
operators, grips,
producers, and camera operators. We book these positions
everyday. If you
are already a freelancer in the southeast please submit your
contact
information to us. Click here for our Contact Us page.
Is this like the television show "The Apprentice"?
Yes, we want candidates that are serious about their profession
and hope to
use this experience as a career stepping-stone. But, no,
we don¹t fire
people each week.
Can you email me when the position is posted or filled?
Signup for our Go To Team Apprenticeship Email Notices. You
will only receive emails when the position is posted and
filled.
